The League of Women Voters of Florida
Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.
The League of Women Voters of Florida (LWVFL) is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government, working to increase understanding of major policy issues, and advocating for legislative changes and policies for the public good.
Current focus points
Legislative Priorities

LWVFL works to advocate for better Florida for all by drafting, supporting and opposing state legislation. Our grassroots membership determines specific legislative goals within various policy issues each year.
REGISTERING
RETURNING CITIZENS

Ending disenfranchisement and discrimination against people with convictions is a priority for the Florida League following the passage of 2018’s Amendment 4.
VOTER SERVICES

Much of LWVFL’s history stems from our work to register, empower and educate voters. We work endlessly to register new voters, host candidate forums and educate the public on various issues.

REDISTRICTING
The League believes congressional districts and government legislative bodies should be apportioned substantially on population. We promote transparent and accountable redistricting processes to end hyper-partisan practices that don’t benefit constituents. We oppose partisan and racial gerrymandering that strips rights away from voters

Our democracy is in danger due to ignorant narcissists.
“It’s basically making something against the law that was already not a thing,” said Gretchen Robinson, a veteran high school teacher in Orange County, who is confident elementary school colleagues never provided lessons on sexual orientation or gender identity.
In her view, the law’s real goal is clear: “Hostile signaling against the LGBTQ community.” ... See MoreSee Less

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏at last.
Although abortion remains legal in Florida for now, we know the overturning of Roe will have major impacts throughout our nation. 18 other states will see abortion become illegal, if not immediately, soon.
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming have pre-Roe laws restricting abortion that snap back into effect or have “trigger” laws.
We must fight back against these attacks on reproductive freedom. ... See MoreSee Less
