Lisa Yurkin is a clinical educator with over 17 years’ experience as a classroom teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Education in Special Education from Barry University. She is the founder and Director of the Broward Association of Special Educators, where she promotes standards of excellence and innovation in special education research, practice, and policy. She serves on various Broward County School Board task forces and advisory councils.
Lisa’s professional experience spans over 30 years devoted to public service in city, county, and state government. This experience includes nine years as a Legislative Assistant in the Florida House of Representatives where she worked on successful passage of legislation, including Drug Abuse Resistance Education, Stalking and revisions to Domestic Violence laws. She served as Director of the City of Boca Raton Code Enforcement Division and has held various investigative and law enforcement positions.
Lisa served on the LWV of Broward County board of directors and as chair of the Education Committee. She is a member of Delta Epsilon Ioata, Phi Alpha Theta, and DKG Beta Alpa.
